If you are in the business of building companies, you know what its like to try to find investors that will look at your business plan. You worry about them stealing your idea since they have the money to do what you want. Try proving yourself to a prospective investor. Many of us have great ideas and no money. Well let me tell you it is not as hard as you think it is. Investors that make big money know how to take chances on ideas. They know that they are going to win some and loose some. The goal that you need to set is to design a plan that shows the investor what their risks are. Show them you are aware of the risks. Give them the details on how you have considered the risk and what you have come up with to cover this risk the best you can. Make sure you speak to them on the subject of obstacles they feel you may have overlooked. Most investors have seen much more than you have and if you allow them to have input you will find they are receptive to your idea. When they feel like your idea is good the key is to show them that this is a partnership and that you will give them regular reports on what is going on. You have to remember that investors invest they do not usually want an active roll in your company but do want to know what is going on and many times they may offer some valuable input. With my companies I always leave the CFO position open and offer this position to the investor. Most times the investor has someone that they feel would be a good fit and many times they have a close relationship with this person. I am sure you can see where I am going with this. You are making the investor feel more comfortable with there investment. They have more control of there investment than usual and will most of the time hold your opportunity above the others. When you start fallowing what we suggest here you will find at very least an investors that are willing to listen to what you have to say. Remember that investors are the best people to ask what it takes to get an investor to fund you.
